jack's little piles

So, I am a pile person. I leave neat little piles (okay, sometimes not so neat) all over the apartment . . . as does my son. I will stumble on his little collections and smile at the combination of things and the way they seem to be placed just so, and what they say about who he is.

Here is one I stumbled on a few days ago on our bedroom floor. The little broom is his. Whenever he sees me sweeping, he immediately goes to get his little broom and starts making his way around the house. I think this time he was also trying to keep up with his papa, who had just arrived home from work -- which led him into our bedroom and to the other item in the collection: his favorite pair of my shoes. I do not know what it is about them but this little guy has had a thing for this one pair of shoes as far back as I can remember. He left the two items on our floor just as you see them here . . . perhaps his tribute to the witch of the west . . .

Another little collection I stumbled upon a few days ago on Jack's
table . . .

These are parts of various block sets but they are no longer blocks to Jack. They are the two latest additions to his microphone collection. He made them himself and walks around with one version or another of a microphone up to his mouth at some point each day. I love the way he stops and looks for somewhere to gingerly place whatever he currently holds in his hands whenever something new catches his attention.
