Jack turned two this past Saturday and he rang it in with a bang . . .

We had our own little private celebration on Saturday afternoon. We gave the cupcakes I was baking for his party on Sunday a test run and opened a few gifts. Jack has been to so many birthday parties this summer that he really had this whole thing down. When we mentioned his party he would sing the first line of "Happy Birthday To You" and then say the word "cake" with a smile.
He is still working on the whole tearing into presents thing -- which is fine by me. When we pulled out his first wrapped present from his Aunt Annie, he took one look at the blank brown paper it was wrapped in and apparently saw a blank canvas. He said something about crayons and ran off to his room. Returning a moment later with his box of crayons, he sat down and began coloring his present.
We did eventually peak his interest about what was inside the box . . .
These big trucks were a find for me. . . I am proud to say that they have already been used and loved by a five year old boy who sold them to us for a very small amount a few days ago (his parents were involved in the transaction as well). I have really been trying to find anything I can to recycle in the toy category and these were a big hit with the little man!
