young love

Jack is 20 months old now and in these last few weeks he has blossomed so much.  He takes on more physically challenging tasks, he participates fully in our music class and is constantly singing, playing an instrument or asking me to sing something.  He can sing parts of the ABC song, Row Row Row Your Boat, the Itsy Bitsy Spider (in Spanish and English) and many others that we sing in our music class and listen to on his cds.  He is talking and mimicking constantly and his words are now too many for me to list.

But perhaps the biggest change has been in what a social being he has become -- especially with other children, but also with adults.  He works really hard to actually interact and play with other children (both his age and much older).  Some of these children are more obliging that others but he keeps trying nonetheless.  This week in music class while we were singing the first song he actually sang along and did all of the movements (was not happening before and does not happen with many of the children).  Then as we were singing the next song he walked around the circle greeting people and trying his darndest to get the attention of one of his favorite little girls, Audrey.  I can tell now that he actually misses his little friends when he does not see them as often.

Another little one who is very dear to Jack's heart is Nova.  She is about 5 months older than him and is a very gentle spirit.  She actually plays with Jack and talks to him and is very patient with him.  They are a really good match as both are sensitive little beings  Yesterday he stayed at Nova's house for a few hours and they rode in the wagon with Nova's mom to our nearby park.  Don't let his straight faces fool you, he is in heaven and usually smiling when Nova is around.
